Josephine Cameron’s lyrical voice and genuine style have been compared to Alison Krauss, Edie Brickell, and The Bangles’ Susanna Hoffs. Josephine has produced four CDs of original and traditional American songs, and teaches a series of K-5 workshops and school programs called Songwriting for Kids (www.songwritingforkids.com). She has been featured numerous times on TV and radio shows such as WCLZ’s “Area Code 207”, WMPG’s “Us Folk”, and Harpswell Television’s “Live from the Sound.” Josephine has also begun to receive some national attention, receiving the FOSTEX Artist of the Month Award, and two Garageband Awards for her song “Long Night,” as well as surpassing 18,000 downloads on iTunes and similar music sites. Her newest album, American Songs volume 2 is a collaboration with Nashville singer/songwriter Carter Little, and builds on Josephine's growing catalog of traditional American folk music. Exploring themes of travel, this collection includes songs of escape like "Gum Tree Canoe" from the early 1800's, songs of searching like Stephen Foster's famous "Oh Susanna," and songs of spiritual pilgrimage and hope like "Unclouded Day" and "Goin' Home," from Dvorak's New World Symphony. Her song “Long Track Blues” was recently included in Nikki Giovanni’s New York Times bestseller, Hip Hop Speaks to Children: A Celebration of Poetry with a Beat.
