YOU CAN HELP

Thanks for visiting this page. Independent musicians like me wouldn’t exist without great people like you who are willing to help. And there are lots of things you can do. These days, you can be a full-fledged music promoter right from your living room! Please take a moment to do one of the items listed below. You’ll be surprised at the difference you can make.

For you Super Friends out there:
If you do a promotion in 3 or more of the following categories, you are on my Super Friends list. Please send me an email listing your mailing address and the specifics about your promotions (I’d love to know where you wrote a review, posted a link, put up flyers, etc.) and I will send you an extra-special thank-you gift.

Tell a friend
Word of mouth is still the best way to spread good news.
-Tell your friends about your favorite Josephine Cameron song or album.
-Email your friends and invite them to listen to free downloads at www.josephinecameron.com/music.html.
-Put one or two of your favorite Josephine Cameron songs on a mix CD and send it to your friends.
-Give your friends a Josephine Cameron CD for a birthday, holiday, baby shower, or just because you love them.

Send a postcard
When’s the last time you sent somebody an honest-to-goodness piece of snail-mail?
If you would like some Josephine Cameron postcards to send to your friends and family, simply send me an email jcinfo@josephinecameron.com with your postal address, and I will send you 10 postcards. Send your mom or your grandma or your best friend in Budapest a note in your own handwriting. You’ll make their day. Want more than 10 postcards? Just ask, and they’re yours. I’ve got plenty.

Create a playlist
Do you listen to music on iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster or one of the many other download & subscription music services? Make a playlist, add a Josephine Cameron song or two, and share it with the world. You’d be surprised at how many people discover music through other people’s playlists. Why not yours?

Write a review
Ever dreamed of being a music journalist? There’s an easy way to tell the whole world what you think.
Write an album or song review on one or more of the following sites:
Your blog: If you have a blog, this is a perfect place to include a review of one of Josephine's albums, songs, or performances.
Amazon.com
Cdbaby
iTunes

Create a link
If you have a website, blog, Yahoo! page, MySpace profile, or any other online presence, set up a link so your viewers can listen to free downloads, and keep track of events and news at Josephine's website: http://www.josephinecameron.com. If you want a banner or link image, send me an email, and I'll arrange to send you something.

Get paid for linking
There are also a number of affiliate programs out there now that will actually pay you to link to a Josephine Cameron product page. This usually means that you sign up to be an affiliate, and then you set up a special link on your website (e.g. you link to "American Songs" on CDBaby.com). Then every time someone clicks on that link and buys "American Songs", CDBaby will pay you a percentage of the sale. This is for real, and it works. You actually do get paid. It's not going to make you a millionaire, but it might pay for your next few lattes, or maybe even your next couple CDs.

Post a flyer
Look for the red star after each concert listing on Josephine's event calendar. You'll be able to download and print a poster for each show. Then you can put them up in your office, at school, in the grocery store, library, or local music store...anywhere you think people might be interested in hearing about the show.

Suggest a venue
Know somewhere in your town that would be perfect for a Josephine Cameron performance? Send an email with the contact info, and we'll send them some materials. If you happen to know someone at the venue and can put in a good word—that helps even more!

Visit MySpace
Do you have a MySpace profile? Visit me on MySpace. Say hello. I’d love to be your friend.
Other cool things you can do on MySpace that will help:
-Post a Josephine Cameron song
-Add Josephine Cameron to your “What I’m Listening to Now” list
-Add a link to www.josephinecameron.com
-Review a song, album, or performance in your blog
Let’s be friends…I’ll look forward to seeing you soon!

Host a house concert
House concerts are a terrific, cozy, fun way for audiences and performers to enjoy an intimate, interactive concert setting. I’d love to play at yours…send me an email and we’ll see what we can work out. If you’ve never hosted a house concert before, and want to know more, this is kind of an old site, but it has loads of information: http://houseconcerts.org/

Host Songwriting for Kids
Songwriting for Kids is taking off like a rocket! This is a program I designed to teach children the basics of how a song is put together, and how they can express their own creativity through song. There is a strong emphasis on collaboration and having fun. Ages 5-8*. If you would like to host a session of Songwriting for Kids at your school, community center, or church, please send me an email. For more information on the program, please visit www.songwritingforkids.com.

*I am currently working on a Songwriting for Spirit program for teenagers on exploring and expressing spirituality through song, as well as a Songwriting for Families program, so look for upcoming information on www.songwritingforkids.com or feel free to ask me about those as well.

Use my music in your podcast, YouTube video, film project, etc.
If you have a non-profit project you’re working on, and you’d like to use a Josephine Cameron song, by all means, please feel free. We just ask that you attribute the song to Josephine Cameron somewhere in the project, and if at all possible, add a link to www.josephinecameron.com. Please send me an email, and let me know how you’re using my song. I’d love to see and hear what you’re working on!

There are three exceptions to this rule:

Commercial Use: Of course, you're required to ask before using a Josephine Cameron song in a for-profit enterprise (professional film, advertisement, for-profit broadcasting). Send an email to: jcinfo@josephinecameron.com and we can work out a licensing agreement.

Copyrighted Cover Songs: If you would like to use a song performed by Josephine Cameron but written by someone else, we need to arrange licensing fees with the original songwriter’s publishing company (this does not apply to songs that are in the public domain). If you’re determined to use a copyrighted cover song, please send me an email so we can work out the details. Josephine Cameron songs that fall into this category are:

Activism and Fundraising: Again, please email me first before using a Josephine Cameron song in a project with a fundraising objective, social or political cause.
